Job Summary:

Our Employee Health Services team is growing! This Occupational Health RN’s initial primary duties will focus on collaborating with the Employee Health team to manage employee COVID exposures and the return-to-work status of symptomatic employees or those who have traveled recently. This is a dynamic, highly autonomous position with varied job duties including acute injury/illness and exposure management, pre-placement physical exams, medical surveillance evaluations, ergonomic evaluations and case management

This is a 40 hour position (typically Mon-Fri, 7:30a-4p), some coverage on off shifts (evenings, weekends, holidays) may be needed. May require work from the Alfond Center for Health, Thayer Center for Health or the Hathaway Building, the primary focus will be in the Center for Employee Health Services Department

The Occupational Health RN is responsible for providing direct patient care, triage and case management services for clinic and back up coverage for employer based clinic patients in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and standing medical orders, while working within the limits of RN licensure. Helps to coordinate daily activities of Workplace Health outpatient clinics, providing efficient use of department resources while striving to meet customer service goals. All care will be delivered in compliance with all state and local regulations governing the profession and in following with the ethical guideline of the ACOEM and AAOHN

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain one in a timely fashion
  • At least one year of nursing experience, occupational health experience preferred
  • Strong assessment skills (essential)
  • ED, Express Care, Care Management, or on-site experience is a plus
  • The ability to use critical thinking skills to problem solve and make quick decisions and then navigate the challenging follow-up discussions with confidence
  • The ability to prioritize and the flexibility to change gears quickly

Job Description:

Conducts health screenings. Tracks and performs required immunizations and testing

Provides treatment for job related injuries and illnesses. Ensures compliance with applicable workplace safety laws and regulations

Provides review and case management services to employers regarding their employees who require outside medical attention for job-related injuries

Provides employee counseling and referrals for occupational injuries and illnesses as well as substance abuse, domestic violence, and other health-related matters
